Change is coming.....

A quick update to let you all know that a bit of a revamp is coming.

We Are Many.....
Last time I mentioned maybe one more test model. We I did, it wnnt well, then I went to the fw open day and basically handed over my wallet!
What's all this leading too? Well in short coming soon will be a gallery for the Alpha Legion army that's now my hobby mainstay. Why a gallery, well because I've actually finished some models. I've said it a 100 times, but this time I really do think an army will stick. Pics soon!

Squires Dice
A change of title and a change of rules. After some intense play testing my in development hero battler has been pulled back into the workshop for some major revamping. Currently have a solid version 2 ruleset, however it's much more card dependant so I'm currently generating content and cards. As soon as v0.2 is ready you'll be able to download everything here.

New Games

It's been a while but its about time I gave an update. The armies are under control... ish, Right now though Too Many Games might be a better title!

Horus Heresy
We've been getting a lot of good games in at the games club. My Iron warrior have had mixed success. The high point was a barrage of lascannons obliterating a knight in turn 1. The lower points have been several brutal defeats. Looking forward to seeing what's coming at the forgeworld open day, but as normal theres that little devil on my shoulder tempting me to try a different force. Maybe just one more test model.......

Hall of Champions
My own game has been re-written a lot over the last few months but this week it finally got to play testable state. Fundementally it worked but I've now pulled it back into the lab for some reworking before we roll it out again.

Wrath of Sigmar
GW did what I always hoped for but never expected. A full on fantasy reboot. I felt the rules needed rewriting but the lore was fine. I was initially concerned when I heard the new plot line, but on seeing the new minis I've seen how they seem to be making good use of it. Almost certainly going to be collecting a God-king \ Signamrite army. That said I'm not sure where it leaves the rest of my minis???

Dystopian Wars
Recent attendance at Salute saw me tempted in by a Dystopian Wars fleet. Still reading books and painting ships, but a Prussian battle fleet is now assembling. Still yet to try the game in anger but something different at any rate to keep us busy.

New Projects for 2015

2015 begins and so too do new project ide....... wait... no ... comeback!!

Ok, we've seen it all before,  "New Year, New aims etc etc".   Well this isn't fully one of those updates.  Some of these plans are already well underway its just now is a good time to make them more public.  So this year there a 2 main projects that will be filling my gaming time:

My Army (yes, singular!): Iron Warriors - 30KStarted last year and came to the fore when I managed to get some regular gaming in during autumn of this year. Having recently come from a successful outing in the festive apocalypse game the warriors are ideal for me to continue to paint and prepare.   The aim.... 2000pts, legal and painted by 2016

Tales of Legend (working title)I love fantasy gaming, but I've become aware that the WFB system isn't actually that good! I've been thinking about this on and off for 6 months and recently started penning my own ruleset for fantasy gaming. Its a long way off being ready for details to be released but my coffee table has already seen the first skirmishes and playtests. The aim..... a released V1 ruleset by 2016

Daemons of the past

Thought I'd take the opportunity to upload a few daemons I've painted over the last couple of years. These two models represent some of my best successes with what I consider my weakest areas of painting: flesh blending!

GW's herald. This is probably the model I'm most proud of in terms of painting. The flesh tones on this one came out just how I wanted.

A daemon from Crocodile Miniatures. This fits right in with my 'Counts As' heavy philosophy. In this case a Bloodletter of Tzenntch.

And while I'm at it here's a better picture of 'Space Krell'

Space Krell

The latest development is that it seems at long last my hunt for a 30K / Horus Heresy army has taken a massive step forward.

I'm presently painting up a test model for the armies general and I'm doing it in Imperial Fist colours.

So a word about the model.  He's a Kit-bash as you'd expect. Originally built as a leader of a Blood Angels assault team. Quite by accident though I also noted recently that he's a very good likeness of Krell (WFB Vampire Counts), but in 40K garb.  See the comparison for yourself.

For those interested. The model is made up for the following:

Head -  FW Minotaur's Chaplin head
Body, Shoulders, Arms, Weapon - GW Blood Angel Sanguinary Guard
Legs, Backpack - FW MkII Assault Marine

It'll be a little while before he's done. But so far so good!

"So..... what's the deal, been painting? got any new models to show?"

Dam right I do!

First up is the now painted Thousand Sons Sorcerer that was previously detailed. Very pleased with how he came out!  For details on how I built him, check out the earlier post here

Following him we have the prototype for the gold/blue style that I've adopted. This model was painted nearly two years ago.

Last weekend I got one with some serious kit bashing. I built myself a counts as Kharn the Betrayer for the Tzenntch army.  This guy consist of:
Legs / Right Shoulder- MkIII Iron amour from Forgeworld
Chest back - Grey Knight Strike Marine from GW
Chest Front / Left Shoulder / Backpack - Thousand Son Conversion kit from GW
Arms - Chaos Space Marine from GW
Pistol - Old plasma pistol from Raptors GW (OOP)
Flame sword - Clipped from one of the parts of the Burning Chariot from GW
Head - Legion Tank Commanders from Forgeworld

Over the holidays I started a Dark Elf army.  They have become my fantasy battle focus and first model completed with Shadowblade.

Second model completed with my Sorcerer. The vast majority of the model is made from the spare I had left over from my chariot after I built it in the Scourgerunner variant. The additions are flames from that burning chariot kit (yes they've all come from the same single kit!). I've also added a staff tip made from an unused Darkshard horn and a collar from an unused banner top.
