Word Bearer Paint Recipe

To get a basic tabletop Word Bearer scheme, here's what I've been doing:

1) Spray the model in Skull White.
2) Base armour in Khorne Red.
3) Base metallics in Iron Breaker.
4) Base other plates in Chaos Black.
5) Pick out eyes in Moot Green
6) Pick out rivets on metallics and small details in Gehennas Gold.
7) Tidy up all edges form the above sections.
8) Thin wash of 50/50  Drakenhoff Nightshade and Lahmian Medium mix.   Be careful not to let it pool on the armour.
9) Pick out fingers and face details with Khorne Red
10) Very very light drybrush of Iron Breaker over the whole model.  The brush should look as if its empty of paint when testing it on a piece of paper before.
11) More direct drybrush on metals if required
12) Pick out detailed metallics with Iron Breaker,Gehennas gold and Moot Green as required
13) Paint whole base in Baneblade Brown
14) Paint layer of Agrellan Earth on to of base

Betrayal at Calth Apothecary

Had some excellent fun with Betreyal at Calth rules. Hoping that this game is supported with some expansions.

In the mean time here's a homebrew expansion card of my own.

The Alpha Legion Paint Recipe

Been asked how I do the models for the Alpha Legion so here is my current approach

1) Spray with chaos black
2) Spray with leadbelcher or brush with ironbreaker. The citadel leadbelcher spray can is actually the same shade as ironbreaker in their pot.
3) leave 48 hours to let it properly dry in
4) thin layer of pentarts metallic teal applied using a drybrush
5) tidy up details with ironbreaker
6) gehenas gold for bronze details
7) wash with 50\50 larmian medium and drakenhoff nightshade
8) redetail main armour in pentarts metallic teal
9) relayer bronze with gehenas gold.
10) seraphim sepia on bronze details if they are large and need it
11) very very lightly build up a drybrush of ironbreaker to highlight the metals and add weathering. This also softens the blues. Make sure the brush is super dry and light with paint.

Warning, this scheme didn't really look right till the final stage. You need to be brave and stick with it :)

Socialing my Media

"Why no updates" you may ask. Well put simply recently I've been finding it much easier to put WIP and finished model shots on the @toomanyarmies twitter feed. Today for example you would have seen the finished Armilus Dynat #tooklongerthanexpected #cloaksandeyesareapigtopaint.

As for Hall of Champions, its currently back in for reworking after the 4th Alpha version. Really pleased with progress but its still at a design stage where major mechanic changes and concepts are being worked on.

Squires Dice re-enters play testing

A quick update from me.

Alpha Legion
Been going a bit slower due to other projects (see below) but I've still managed a little building and painting. Another marine rolled off the production line today. Also I've finally built Armilus Dynat.

Squires Dice
Major progress on the rebuild. The latest version has become testable again and a few games were played over the weekend. The biggest change that's come out of the rework is now the game is not restricted to heros. Units of infantry, monsters and warmachines will now be useable. A tester army was also built this weekend to try out a key hobbying concept that will be core to the game.
